A Note from the Artistic Director March 2008 One year away…. The 27th of March 2008 marks one of those dates in the life of an Artistic Director that calls for some reflection, some taking of stock and a great deal of nervous energy…a year to the day until we kick off the 5th edition of Ten Days on the Island, one of the world's very special festivals. I have over the past months had the privilege to travel to some of the most extraordinary and remote islands of the globe; often as an invited guest of a festival or foreign government. |
The fascinations of our shared and unique experiences as islanders never seem far from the surface. While climates, languages and custom vary wildly from each other, I am always struck by the similarity we share in our island experiences and the stories and links interwoven between us all. My challenge right now is to refrain from telling what's being planned for the 2009 programme. I would love to but that all has to wait until we launch the official programme of events in mid November this year. I must confess it's an exciting time as anything is still possible and the shape of things is starting to emerge.
